Well, it was great to see you all this past Saturday! I was glad to see that everyone got along and seemed to have a good time. Special thanks go to Lisa for hosting us. Unless another venue is proposed, I think we should continue to go there for as long as she and her husband will allow us! I felt like the session itself went very well! There was actual roleplaying (yay character growth!), some combat, and intrigue. I have received some feedback about my DMing, and I will take it seriously. If you have any more feedback for me, please let me know! I want to know where I went wrong, and where I could improve. With that in mind, I would like to offer a summary of the session, as well as some notes to you guys. If I leave anything out, please let me know.
Game Summary:
Nathrak, our Elven wizard arrived in Astahar with Consultori Vaudagna, one of the leading researchers in the Infinitum, the Elven college of magic. They traveled to Flynrest to speak with Alexander Wainwright to discuss 5 missing Elves that they want back. Reika arrived in Flynrest with her mentor, Machaya, to discuss a trade agreement with Flynrest. Liftasa arrived in Flynrest for provisions and rest on her way north to Quail Hollow. Garrett was ordered by Lieutenant Sembelyn to meet with Alexander Wainwright about adding more men to the militia up north in Quail Hollow.
After a brief meeting with Alexander Wainwright in his comfortable manor, a group of Elves attacked the town and ransacked many houses and stalls in the market. The party was able to drive off the attack, and capture two Elves in the process. The party was able to question one of the Elves, who informed them that they had intel that proved the missing Elves were in Flynrest. The Captain who gave the order was Captain Janos, which was not a name that anyone recognized, including Nathrak. Some harsh words were spoken between the Elves, which might lead some to believe that Nathrak is a traitor to the cause. After the Consultori and Nathrak assured everyone that they had nothing to do with the attack, no action was taken against them.
Alexander Wainwright, obviously shaken by the attack, formulated a plan to have Nathrak and Reika join Garrett and Liftasa on their way north. Nathrak would join as a show of good faith to Flynrest, and Reika would go as the guarantor for the trade agreement. After a brief conversation, Garrett and Liftasa made plans to leave immediately. After Garrett sent some messages to his superior officer, the newly formed party began preparations to leave.
FIN.
Notes:
Since we have only had one session, and you are not accustomed to my style of DMing, I wanted to throw some things out there for you all to consider. This does not reflect your roleplaying. Honestly, I thought the session went very well, and I enjoyed myself immensely. I just want to get you guys acclimated to the game, and get you all thinking about the little things. Although your characters are in Flynrest, there still things happening elsewhere.
1. Why did you not question the second Elf? He was unconscious, but he would have woken eventually. He could have had additional information, and may have been more helpful than the first one.
2. The stalls in the market are not enclosed. You have a vendor standing behind the stall, and customers standing in front. There would be nowhere to hide the missing Elves in the stalls. That didn't stop the attacking Elves from destroying them.
FIN.
